What is the Virtual Endoscope?
The virtual endoscope provides a first-person perspective inside the spine, simulating an endoscopic camera navigating through spinal structures. It allows you to explore the anatomy as if looking through an actual surgical endoscope.
Capabilities
- Navigate through spinal canal and foramina
- Visualize vertebral surfaces and disc boundaries up close
- Simulate bone drilling (material removal)
- Simulate tissue deformation (grab and push)
- Adjust camera depth, distance, and roll angle
Prerequisites
The Endoscope requires completed segmentation meshes. If no meshes are available, the Endoscope button is disabled with a prompt to run segmentation first.
Automatic State Changes
When entering Endoscope mode, the app automatically:
- Shows all meshes (if hidden)
- Turns off Mesh Cut
- Turns off Mesh Transparency
- Enables all labels
- Sets camera to COR preset
- Sets clip position to 50%
Constraints
- Activating Endoscope automatically deactivates Scouter mode.
- Activating Endoscope automatically deactivates Pointer, W/L, and Ruler tools.
